ABOUT US

We offer Martial Arts classes to learn Ju-Jitsu for real and practical self defence.

Fudoshin Ju-Jitsu Dojos was founded in July 2008 by chief instructor Mark Thomas Renshi, black belt 4th dan and opened our first Dojo at David Lloyd, Bushey on 21st September 2008, we now have five dojos located throughout Hertfordshire in Bushey, Hemel Hempstead, Hertford, South Oxhey and Watford servicing surrounding areas such as Kings Langley, Northwood, Rickmansworth, Stanmore and St Albans

Ju-Jitsu is the ancient art of self defence that was developed in Japan centuries ago by Samurai Warriors, it encompasses all the major fighting styles and systems from which many modern day sports such as Judo, Karate, and Aikido have all derived from.

FudoshinJu-Jitsu has been built on the concept of "The Unbreakable Spirit!" which is represented in each student's training ethos, this is not a sport club and we don't do competitions, our Ju-Jitsu is very real and very practical.

Classes are suitable for all children aged between 5 yrs - 12yrs, Teens 13 - 16yrs and adults from ages 16+ years of age, as a student of Fudoshin Ju-Jitsu you will learn how to fight realistically, we will teach you how to throw, grapple and restrain your opponents.

Temple Logo

Temple Club Badge

The two golden circles that encompass the words “Fudoshin Ju-Jitsu” and “The Unbreakable Spirit!” represent the two continual journeys (mental and physical) in all Martial Arts.

The Temple in the centre of the badge represents a spiritual place where a students can focus their thoughts on their training. Mount Okiyama in the background represents the spiritual home  of ”Fudo Sama" The mountains also represent a physical presence of something that is “immovable”

This Badge is worn by all students on the right sleeve of their dogi.

Bamboo and Kanji Badge

The Bamboo & Kanji Student Badge

The Bamboo is significant by way of something that is naturally hard yet durable, firmly rooted in the ground, sturdy enough to build from yet flexible enough to withstand great forces, “Unbreakable” just as a Fudoshin Ju-Jitsu student.

The Kanji to the right of the bamboo reads downwards “Fudoshin Ju-Jitsu”

This badge is worn by all students on the left sleeve of their dogi.

Fan and Katana Motif

The Fan & Katana Motif,

This represents the Yin & Yang principles of harmony in  opposites, in this case the hard and soft side of the Samurai.

The Katana representing the hard side by virtue of the unyielding warrior and the fan representing the softer side of an individual willing to serve others to the sacrifice of all else including himself and his family.

Therefore this badge is worn only by those that have attained the rank of Shodan Ho (Black Embroidery) or Shodan (Coloured Embroidery)

Bamboo and Kanji Badge

Fudo My-O is the Buddhist divinity of wisdom and fire, also known as O Fudo Sama he is sometimes called upon for protection during dangerous times.

He is said to live in a temple at the top of Mount Okiyama, he is often shown to be an ugly old man surrounded by fire, he has a sword in his right hand to sever material connections and a rope in the other hand that he used to tie demons with.

Fudoshin in literal terms means “Imperturbability” and for the purposes of this particular style of Ju-Jitsu we have used the interpretation of “Unbreakable Spirit!” as in an immovable mind and immutable heart.
